Happy Monday chicas!

I hope you all had a fun weekend.

Mine was pretty low key;

which really is my favorite.

I did a little shopping, baked a little, 

tried some new recipes, took care of some things,

and most importantly lounged around in sweatpants :)

Why the name Tookies?

When our son was little, he couldn't say 'cookie' so he said 'tookie' and this is what we have all always called cookies :)

It's hard to believe that this little blog has been alive for one year.

So much has changed in a year; all for the best.

I started this blog as an outlet during my long distance relationship and I never imagined the amazing things I would get out of blogging.

I've made so many amazing friendships that I am SO grateful for. 

You know who you are ;)

I've learned that crafting and diy projects aren't something we just did in elementary school and that you can actually make really cute things that don't look cheap.

I've gotten so many makeup & exercise tips that I will probably never even use! 

And I've gotten to meet a lot of amazing girls that I've realized aren't so different from me.

We all struggle, go through tough times, but the amazing thing about blog friends is that they are there to pick you up when you fall. I can't tell you how much easier it's been to get through hard times knowing that there are girls out there that actually care.

So thank you.

Thanks for reading and being there when I need you :)

And to celebrate, I figured I would give a little something back.

My good friend Carol started a business called Scentalating Blendz where she makes lotions, bath salts, bath bombs, shower gels, bubble bath, and glycerin soaps. Dick Clark, Revenge, & a Winner

I almost cried when I heard the news yesterday that Dick Clark had died. 

He was the main reason I watched the New Years Eve show....

I just thought he'd be the perfect little grandpa :(

in other news, I'd seen these brand online before and decided to try it out this morning at Starbucks.

All I have to say is, it better be delicious because this puppy was $4!

Revenge was on last night.

it's about time after being mia for a month! 

btw....season finale is coming up at the end of may. 

I don't know how they get away with making the season so short.

Make it with a fireman

oh yes girls. 

I hadn't planned on posting today but after getting this juicy titled email I figured I would share the wealth ;)

so, let's make it with a fireman shall we?

Recipe Timeeee

mornin' y'all!

I posted this picture Sunday night and got a lot of requests for a recipe.

ask and you shall receive :)

Here's what you'll need-


1. Whole Grain Pasta - (Rotini works best)
2. Light Zesty Italian Dressing 8oz.
3. Sun dried tomatoes (I got the kind not soaked in oil because it's healthier that way and the salad dressing softens them)
4. A handful of shredded cheese
5. Half of a red onion (diced)
6. 1 red pepper (diced)
7. Salt & Pepper to taste

It's super easy to make.
Boil pasta.
Combine all other ingredients in large bowl.
Drain pasta and add to bowl.
Mix all together.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Bam! (in case you're feeling all emeril like)

I was debating on adding a couple of chicken breasts to it just to get some added protein but I totally forgot! So maybe next time. Either way, it's delicious without it. I hope y'all enjoy! :)

My heart is heavy today.
It hurts for my friends, the families, and anyone that was affected.

Five years ago, Virginia Tech experienced a horrible tragedy.

I remember that day almost as if it were yesterday.

I had a lot of friends who were attending the school then and one of my friends was actually on the phone with her mom when she heard the shots. Tech has always had a special place in my heart so today, please take a minute to remember the 32 who lost their lives on that tragic day. And just remember to be thankful for what you have.

Short n' Sweet

hey there.

Keepin' it short n' sweet again today.

Toby is beyond spoiled. Here he is laying down while both my parents give him a massage.

These would be the parents that said they would never allow a dog in the house.....
