Mr. Miyagi Says Wax Off

It's about to get really personal up in here,
as in, y'all might think I'm cray cray for letting you in on this little secret of mine.

{kidding} #capthat
My name is Sarah and I wax.

I'm in my mid-twenties and I've asked many of my girlfriends if
they wax. I was shocked to hear that I was in the minority.
I started waxing a little over two years ago and I absolutely love it.
They say 'once you wax you don't go back.'
actually, no one says that but I do and it's true!

There are so many perks to getting waxed versus shaving.
Numero uno being no razor burn.
Hello. We've all been there.
Rush job turns into bumps which = nasty bikini line. ew
Another reason to wax is because you only have to do it once a month.
Once you've done it a few times, it takes the hair longer to grow back....
and it comes in soft. {this may be tmi, but it's fact}

About two and a half years ago I randomly googled brazilian waxing here in town
and one of the first places that popped up was the amazingly cute salon that
I still go to today. It's designed with a pin-up theme and it's super girly so it definitely gets an A in my book.
They hosted the lingerie party I was at last weekend.

One of the things I'm gonna miss most about Richmond is this place.
Luckily I became really close friends with the girl whose been waxing me the longest,
so I'll be flying her down every once in a while ;)

Anyway, back to the waxing.
Most of my friends say their biggest reason for not going
is fear of pain. The other is not wanting to just leave it all hanging out there
for someone else to see.

Here's how I look at it.
If you do your research and go to a good salon, the pain will be
minimal because they know what they're doing. It all depends on what type of wax
they use and the technique. Now I'm not saying it won't hurt, because it does.
The first time I ever had it done was probably the most painful. After that it gets easier.
Plus there are a few things that most places probably don't tell you before you come in, like....
no caffeine the morning of your appointment
{It heightens your nerve senses and makes it pretty much unbearable}
take advil about an hour before your appointment
{this doesn't take the pain away but it sure does lessen it!}
exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate

and if you're still a little nervous, you can always buy numbing cream....
but I've never had to even come close to needing that stuff.
remember the numb nuts?

If you're one that's concerned about someone looking at your
biz-nass then think of it this way-
you're 1 out of how many vajays they are seeing that day.
it's kind of like the gyno...except not.

My biff Audrey, aka stylist, waxer, and my main bish said she would be happy
to answer any questions you guys might have. Trust me, she knows her ish.
I'm getting her to make me a list of questions to ask salons when I move, cause she's awesome like that....and let's be real, I'm not entrusting just anyone with my little treasure box ;)

Anyway, leave your questions below or send me an email with anything you want to know
and next time I get with her I'll get y'all some answers. Heck, y'all may even be lucky
enough to get a vlog.

So, if you've managed to stick around this long I'm sure you think I'm totally crazy
for talking about something so personal on my blog. I obviously don't think it's a big deal, otherwise I wouldn't have put it up for y'all to see. So.....thoughts! And don't forget to leave your questions below :)
xoxo.

May the odds be ever in your favor

happy hunger games. i mean monday.
ahh!
I was so excited to see the movie this weekend.
tickets were sold out friday & saturday so the only day we could see it was yesterday.
I can honestly say that I have never looked so forward to a sunday.

I went with my friend/stylist, Audrey, and her hubby, along with 6 other girls.
We went to this theater called Cinebistro. Do y'all have one where you live?
Let me just tell you, once you cinebistro, you don't go back.
I will never go to a regular theater again. Not that I'm a regular movie go'er anyway, but they seriously have outdone themselves. We got to the theater around 11:30 and ordered mimosas. Since Audrey was the first to order a drink that day, she got a free specialty drink. Then we went into the theater to get our seats and there were waiters taking our food orders (that's right, they serve you legit food before the movie) and we decided on a bottle of wine for the movie. So fun! Oh, not to mention that we are sitting in huge leather chairs that were super comfy.

So, what did y'all think of the movie?
I loved it! I'm glad I read the book before though because you definitely don't get a lot of the backstory. And even though it was two hours, I still felt like it was rushed. But it was still so good! and I would totally see it again :)
1. me & my man peeta {I know you're jelsss}
2. #1 for seeing the first movie
3. the girls
4. movie & mimosas- hollaaa
5. us in front of the hunger games flag
6. hunger games cocktails. yes please!

in other news, I went to tarjay this weekend and got these goodies.
{please excuse the lemon juice in the background. I'm trying to get rid of a bajillion scars on my legs from the river last year- blech}
Ok, so goodies {clockwise}
- Sally Hansen in Racey Rouge
- Dove dry shampoo (review to come)
- Elf Makeup Brush Shampoo
- fun sally hansen nail files
- Maybelline Baby Lips chapstick x2
- Maybelline Define-a-lash mascara

And finally, last Thursday Jake and I went down to CNU to watch Olivia in her end of the year dance performance. We had to wait until the last act but it was so worth it. She did such a great job! {love you liv:)}

phew!
how was your weekend?

Spring Skincare

hello loves.
I'm so excited for march madness to start today!
vcu plays tonight and I was all ready to wear my shirt to work today and low & behold I can't find any of them anywhere! I'm guessing they probably got lost in the move but I'm really hoping that I didn't accidentally give them away. :( that definitely put a damper on my morning.
Then I remembered that today is my friday so I'm happy again :)

In case you missed it, I wrote this post for Katie last week while she was partying it up in Miami.
This spring weather is getting the best of me and I can hardly wait to pull out those summer dresses! But before I do that, there are some things that need to happen....cause we can't all be tan like miss thang...ahem.

for the girl on a budget

 1. Caress Exfoliating Body Wash (2) Exfoliating gloves (3) Fresh Foaming Body Wash
(4) Margarita Body Scrub (5) Smoothing Foot Scrub (6) 4 in 1 Pedicure tool

(1) Jergens Tanning Lotion for the face (2) L'oreal Tanning Lotion - best smelling one I've used....and I've tried a lot! (3) makeup sponges to get around your toes & ankles - don't forget those babies! (4) Gold Bond Healing Body Lotion to keep up a spray tan (5) Cracked Heel Cream

Bath & Body Works usually has their spa products as a buy 2 get 1 free deal.
I've used all 4 of the products above and they have lasted me for over 6 months...with the exception of the margarita scrub. Cause that stuff smells just too darn delicious to stop using ;)

I like to treat myself to one pedicure per year, which is usually at the beginning of the summer.
Think about it.
$8/bottle of polish vs $40 pedicure every few weeks

You could get 5 bottles of polish for 1 pedicure!!
So treat yourself to one and then keep it up by painting your nails at home. You can even soak your feet in the tub with some bath salts while you read a magazine or listen to music. You'll be surprised at how fun....and dare I say rewarding it is to do it yourself :)

well, I know what I'm doing this weekend.
add some wine and we'll call it a day....err night. haha
xoxo.
