Mr. Miyagi Says Wax Off

It's about to get really personal up in here,
as in, y'all might think I'm cray cray for letting you in on this little secret of mine.

{kidding} #capthat
My name is Sarah and I wax.

I'm in my mid-twenties and I've asked many of my girlfriends if
they wax. I was shocked to hear that I was in the minority.
I started waxing a little over two years ago and I absolutely love it.
They say 'once you wax you don't go back.'
actually, no one says that but I do and it's true!

There are so many perks to getting waxed versus shaving.
Numero uno being no razor burn.
Hello. We've all been there.
Rush job turns into bumps which = nasty bikini line. ew
Another reason to wax is because you only have to do it once a month.
Once you've done it a few times, it takes the hair longer to grow back....
and it comes in soft. {this may be tmi, but it's fact}

About two and a half years ago I randomly googled brazilian waxing here in town
and one of the first places that popped up was the amazingly cute salon that
I still go to today. It's designed with a pin-up theme and it's super girly so it definitely gets an A in my book.
They hosted the lingerie party I was at last weekend.

One of the things I'm gonna miss most about Richmond is this place.
Luckily I became really close friends with the girl whose been waxing me the longest,
so I'll be flying her down every once in a while ;)

Anyway, back to the waxing.
Most of my friends say their biggest reason for not going
is fear of pain. The other is not wanting to just leave it all hanging out there
for someone else to see.

Here's how I look at it.
If you do your research and go to a good salon, the pain will be
minimal because they know what they're doing. It all depends on what type of wax
they use and the technique. Now I'm not saying it won't hurt, because it does.
The first time I ever had it done was probably the most painful. After that it gets easier.
Plus there are a few things that most places probably don't tell you before you come in, like....
no caffeine the morning of your appointment
{It heightens your nerve senses and makes it pretty much unbearable}
take advil about an hour before your appointment
{this doesn't take the pain away but it sure does lessen it!}
exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate

and if you're still a little nervous, you can always buy numbing cream....
but I've never had to even come close to needing that stuff.
remember the numb nuts?

If you're one that's concerned about someone looking at your
biz-nass then think of it this way-
you're 1 out of how many vajays they are seeing that day.
it's kind of like the gyno...except not.

My biff Audrey, aka stylist, waxer, and my main bish said she would be happy
to answer any questions you guys might have. Trust me, she knows her ish.
I'm getting her to make me a list of questions to ask salons when I move, cause she's awesome like that....and let's be real, I'm not entrusting just anyone with my little treasure box ;)

Anyway, leave your questions below or send me an email with anything you want to know
and next time I get with her I'll get y'all some answers. Heck, y'all may even be lucky
enough to get a vlog.

So, if you've managed to stick around this long I'm sure you think I'm totally crazy
for talking about something so personal on my blog. I obviously don't think it's a big deal, otherwise I wouldn't have put it up for y'all to see. So.....thoughts! And don't forget to leave your questions below :)
xoxo.

Recipe & More Lochte Love

One of my favorite things about summer is grilling out.
There's something about those grill marks on food that make it taste
that much better. mind game? whatev.
I've been trying a few Pinterest recipes over the past couple of weeks and
they've all gotten the thumbs up.

I apologize for the poor photography.
One thing that I want to get better at is learning how to photograph food.
Anyway, here's the original recipe so you can see how good it's supposed to look
haha
Ingredients-
- 3 Tbsp of soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp of honey
- 1 Tbsp vegetable oil
- juice of 1 lime
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1-2 tsp of siracha*
- red pepper flakes, to taste
- 2 Tbsp cilantro
- 1 pound of skinless, boneless chicken breasts

Directions-
- In a small bowl, combine ingredients (except cilantro).
Mix thoroughly.
- Pour marinade over chicken breasts and turn to coat.
Cover and allow to marinate for at least an hour. **
- Grill on medium high heat for 6-8 minutes on each side.

* I don't really like siracha so I used Chili Garlic paste instead,
which gave it a really good flavor.
** I didn't marinate it for more than 15 minutes and it was still
rich in flavor.

enjoy!

Remember me mentioning the party that Ryan Lochte was bringing a fan to yesterday?
{If you didn't read the article, one 'lucky' fan would have to write a letter explaining
why they are his biggest fan} One of my friends posted this on facebook yesterday and
I just about d-i-e-d! This girl hit the nail on the head.
You can go here for the original link to the story.

Dear Ryan Lochte/Prime Minister of Lochte Nation,
I am hands down, without a doubt Lochte Nation's biggest fan, and am so confident in my supreme fanaticism that I'll even admit some seeming super-fan fallacies, like: I do not own the glasses with the mesh lenses that read "REEZY JEAH"; I also do not own all the products you endorse, including but not limited to a Nissan and swimming trunks by Speedo. However, I DIYed my own perforated "LOCHTENATOR" shades out of a mason jar and jegging trimmings left over from BuzzFeed's ultimate DIY jorts contest, and I wear them constantly — to sleep, Tweet, type, work out, watch you on TV, swim, shower, and text. (I put a rubberband on the glasses arms so that they don't fall off when you excite me at work and I burst out of my desk chair to scream "REEZYYYY!!!" and throw green glitter around.) Another sign of my terrifyingly strong affection for Lochte Nation are the green Swarovski crystals I have glued on all of my possessions, including but not limited to: my BeyoncĂ© poster and Blue Ivy doll, my nails, my cat's nails, my teeth, the laptop BuzzFeed lets me write things like this from, and ALL of my shoes (which should go without saying, really).
You have also inspired me to be as much like you as possible. For example, I think about practicing swimming laps — which is certainly what you spend most of your time doing — basically all the time. I am also training myself to become less grate at spelling because it's SO adorablewhen you do it, and I am SERIOUSLY dialing back on the number of facial expressions in my emotional repertoire and perfecting the one where my eyes go just a little bit lazy and my lower jaw hangs limply from my upper jaw, like I'm stoned and waiting for someone to feed me a slice of pizza.
Lastly, I have been told by a real British person that the Brits don't know who you are and don't care about your flawless, extraordinarily charming existence. To remedy this gut-wrenching humanitarian crisis, I have already begun planning a street art campaign to get your face plastered on the sides of buildings across the U.K. that will make Banksy look like last season's harem pants and the cat artists in Arizona look like Maria Sharapova getting creamed by Serena Williams. Because I know in my heart that the best way to get the Brits (and all the other crazy people in the world who don't know who you are) on your side is to let them see you before they let them hearyou.
Also, though you (or whoever reads this aloud to you) may feel afraid to be in the presence of someone as rabidly N 2 U as me, know that it will be cool — I won't touch you unless you initiate contact for some good Facebook pix, but I also won't be like that person on a date who's so shy they can't think of anything to say and force you to make all the painfully awkward conversation. In fact, you won't have to speak at all because I'll bring a swatch of sparkly green tape to put over your mouth.
ALL KISSES NO HISSES!!!
Amynator

happy hump day!

I seriously could NOT have chosen a more perfect story. hahaha

Ryan Lochte got back from London while I happened to be ‘vacationing’ in his little hometown in Florida. We caught eyes and he knew he had to make me his, so we got married on the beach. I was lucky enough to find the perfect burnt orange dress to wear for our wedding, considering it was such short notice. Talk about a hot couple! Right after the wedding, we had a few shots and flew out on our honeymoon to Tahiti, where the first of our 19 kids was conceived. Lucky us. When we got back, we found out his job would take us north, so we bought a house in the Bronx. It wasn’t long before we decided to get ourselves some nice wheels so we could get out of the house every now and then. Ryan picked out a Range Rover in exorcist pea soup green, while I choose an Infiniti G35 in dookie brown. We may have crap taste in colors but we sure do like nice cars. Along with our 19 kids, believe it or not we have a pet monkey named Dunston. While I’m at home raising our 19 kids and testing toilet paper for a living, sexy face is out doing what he does best, being a sports agent. (You thought I was going to say swim didn’t you) Our life is great as long as Dunston keeps the kids preoccupied and Ryan keeps his mouth shut. Maybe I should’ve stayed single….

speaking of my 'hubby'....check out what he tweeted the
other day about his party in London. I think that was the moment I officially
stopped crushing on him. I mean seriously dude, how awesome do you think you
are to have someone PAY to fly to London just to meet you at a party. We're
not even talking like getting a date or hooking up here.....and even so, that makes me sound like a hooker so, moving right along. I just think he thinks way too hard to make even
the simplest of statements. Sorry Ryan, it's just better if you just stand there and look hot!

Oh, and finally one of my bloggy friends Allison tweeted this to me last night, saying it
reminded her of me :) Love that!

happy tuesday!
can't wait to read y'alls posts :)
xoxo.

Bombshell'n It Up

Is it really Monday already?!
Seriously, someone needs to listen to my suggestion of a 5 day weekend.
We'd all be in much better moods come Monday.

I had such a fun weekend which started off Friday night with a lingerie party at
Bombshell. My friend Audrey works there, which is actually how we became friends.
She knows pretty much {everything} there is to know about me now...ha!

I'm so glad Aimee, a fellow Richmond blogger, decided to come part-ay with us.
There was plenty of pink champagne and yummy treats to go around. Oh,
and did I mention lingerie? ;) Aimee ended up getting this super cute bikini that I couldn't
fit into if i tried. She wanted me to post these pics......

......................

hahaha KIDDING girl!! They are now in your possession ;)
You can thank Aimee for all the pics below bc until Sept 12th, I'll
still be rockin my POS droid.
